Meta Title & Description Generator — write a title that fits the result.

Enter a keyword, page type, and optional brand. Copy three titles and three descriptions with live character counts.

Build the snippet

Same fields as the live tool. Titles and descriptions are written in this page — no API key.

No API key. Titles stay in the 50–60 range when the keyword fits; descriptions aim for 140–155. A URL fetch is optional and often blocked locally — the generator still runs from the brief.

Generate to see a SERP preview, three titles, and three descriptions you can edit and copy.

How to use

Four fields that change the draft, then you still edit

This meta title and description generator writes snippet copy from the keyword and page type you enter. It does not log into Search Console, rewrite your live tags, or call an AI API. Treat every line as a first draft you paste into Yoast, Rank Math, or the theme.

1

Put the real query in the keyword box

Use the phrase a person would type — “emergency plumber Columbus,” not “best licensed plumbing solutions.” The generator builds titles around that string. A stuffed brand slogan as the keyword makes every variant unusable.

2

Set page type, then add brand and city if they belong

Service, location, homepage, article, and product change the pattern. Brand goes after a pipe when it fits. City belongs on a location or local service page; leave it off a national blog post.

3

Write a one-sentence brief (or skip it)

The brief becomes the first description and can replace the third title with a hook. The optional URL field tries a public proxy; if it fails — common when you open this file in Chrome — generation still uses the brief.

4

Edit to the green count, then paste into the CMS

Green means the line is in range. Yellow is short. Red is over. Copy a title and a description that still tell the truth after you cut. The SERP box updates as you type in the first of each pair.

Why it matters

Why title tags still decide the click you never see

The title tag is the line people read in results before they decide to open the page. A truncated 80-character slogan, or a homepage title copied onto every service URL, wastes the one slot Google shows most clearly.

A meta description is not a ranking factor in the way a title can be, but it is the sentence under the blue link. If it is empty, Google will pull a random paragraph. If it is stuffed, people bounce before they trust the page. Aim for a complete thought in about 150–160 characters, not a keyword list.

One query per URL

The keyword you enter should match the page you will paste into. A location page and a blog post should not share the same title pattern.

Length is a display limit, not a score

Google may still rewrite a title. Staying near 50–60 characters reduces truncation. It does not “rank you.”

Brand at the end, unless the brand is the query

On a service page, the work and the city usually come first. Put the company name after the pipe when it still fits.

A brief beats a blank description

If you leave the brief empty, the tool writes a generic close. One true sentence about the offer is worth more than three polished templates.

Titles sit next to the rest of the page. If the H1, the first paragraph, and the Business Profile name three different things, a clean snippet will not hide that. Use the local SEO checker when the page is meant to rank in a city.

Title vs description

What to keep in a title vs a description

The generator writes three of each so you can pick, not so you can publish all six. The edit is different for the two fields.

Title · ~50–60

Name the page, then stop

  • Lead with the service or article subject, not “Welcome to.”
  • Add the city only if this URL is for that market.
  • Use a pipe or em dash once. Two separators look like a dump.
  • Drop “best,” “#1,” and the current year unless the page is actually a dated roundup.
  • If the keyword is already 45 characters, do not force the brand in.
Description · ~150–160

One promise, one next step

  • Open with the same intent as the title, in a full sentence.
  • Name who it is for, or what is included, if that is true.
  • End with a verb that matches the page: quote, read, see options.
  • Do not repeat the title word-for-word. People can already see that line.
  • Leave room. A cut-off mid-word is worse than 140 honest characters.

Homepage titles can carry the brand first. Service and location titles should not. If you are writing a city page, the local SEO work is the page itself — this tool only writes the snippet.

What not to do

What not to put in a title tag

Most bad snippets are not too short. They are copied across twenty URLs, or they try to win a keyword the page does not cover.

Do not reuse one title on every service URL

Google already sees the duplicates. People see a result that could be any page. Change the service word and the city, not just the slug.

Do not stuff the city three times

“Columbus plumber Columbus | plumbing Columbus” reads like a directory spam title. Once in the title and once in the description is enough.

Do not invent a discount or a license in the description

The generator will use your brief. If the brief claims “$89 dispatch” and that is not on the page, delete it before you publish.

Do not treat the SERP preview as Google’s live result

The green URL line is a sketch from the hostname you typed. Google can rewrite titles and pick a different description from the body.

FAQ

Title tags and meta descriptions — short answers

Does this meta generator need an API key?
No. Titles and descriptions are assembled in your browser from the keyword, page type, brand, city, and brief. There is no OpenAI call and no Hyxil API. If JavaScript is off, the form will not generate.
Will Google show the exact title I copy?
Not always. Google may rewrite a title from the H1 or from other on-page text. Write a title that matches the page. A mismatch is the usual reason a snippet changes.
How long should a title tag and meta description be?
Aim for about 50–60 characters on the title and about 150–160 on the description. Pixel width varies by device, so the count is a guide. The tool flags over-limit lines in red.
What does the optional URL field do?
It tries to read public page text through a third-party proxy so the brief can be filled in. That fetch often fails on a local file or a blocked host. Generation does not depend on it. Paste a brief yourself if the status line says the URL could not be read.
Can I use the same description on Yelp or Google Business Profile?
You can reuse a sentence, but GBP has its own description field and a different job. The Google Business Profile audit is the checklist for the listing. This page is for the HTML title and meta description.
Who sees the keyword I type here?
It stays in this page in your browser unless you choose to fetch a URL. Hyxil does not receive the form from this file. When you paste the same HTML into WordPress later, still do not put private client names into a public meta description.

Use the generator above, then ask if you need the pages

Local SEO and a contact form — not another sales homepage. The tool stays free either way.
