Overview

This client is a concrete coating and garage floor coating contractor based in North Carolina. Their services include epoxy garage floor coatings, polyaspartic coatings, basement floor coatings, commercial concrete coatings, and decorative flake systems. Due to a non-disclosure agreement, their business name and specific city are withheld. All metrics are real, taken directly from Google Business Profile Insights for the period April to September 2026.

North Carolina is a strong market for concrete coating services, with a large population of homeowners across the Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, and Greensboro metro areas actively seeking garage and basement floor upgrades. The state's growing construction and home improvement market makes local search visibility the primary lead generation channel for contractors in this space.

The Challenge

Concrete coating is a visually driven, high-ticket service — a single garage floor job can run $2,000 to $6,000 and a commercial project significantly more. Customers searching for this service are ready to buy and they judge contractors almost entirely on photos, reviews, and how prominently the business appears in Google. Without a fully optimised Google Business Profile appearing in the local pack, this contractor was invisible to the exact customers who were ready to spend. Paid advertising was not part of the strategy. The goal was to build organic local visibility that generates consistent inbound enquiries month after month.

What We Did
1

GBP Audit and Category Strategy

We audited the existing profile and benchmarked against the top 5 ranking concrete coating and epoxy floor businesses in the North Carolina service area. We identified the exact category structure, photo volume, review patterns, and service descriptions that the ranking profiles had. Primary category was set to "Concrete Contractor" with secondary categories including "Floor Refinishing Service", "Epoxy Floor Coating", and "Garage Floor Coating Service."

2

Business Description and Services Optimisation

We rewrote the business description to naturally cover the full service range: garage floor epoxy coating, polyaspartic floor coating, decorative flake systems, basement floor coating, and commercial concrete coating. Every service was added individually to the services section with its own description and price range, giving Google granular signals to match the profile to specific service queries across North Carolina.

3

Before-and-After Photo Library

We built a comprehensive photo library covering every service type with clear before-and-after documentation. For garage floor coating specifically, the visual transformation is the primary purchase driver — homeowners need to see the finish quality to commit. A strong photo library also increases Google Maps engagement, which directly contributed to the 12% Maps discovery rate in this case.

4

North Carolina Service Area Configuration

We configured the service area to cover the client's full operational territory across North Carolina. For a contractor who serves multiple counties and cities, correct service area configuration is critical — it determines which local search results the profile is eligible to appear in, across every city in the coverage zone rather than just the registered business address city.

5

Review Generation System

We implemented a post-job review request process using direct GBP links sent via SMS after project completion. Reviews for concrete coating carry extra weight because customers naturally describe what they see — "the garage floor looks amazing", "epoxy coating on our basement" — adding authentic keyword-rich content to the profile that strengthens Google's topic association signals.

6

Q&A Seeding and GBP Posts

We seeded the GBP Q&A section with the most common customer questions about concrete coating — how long it lasts, whether it works in heated garages, cost ranges, and the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic. This content answers objections before the customer even calls, increasing conversion rate from profile view to direction request or website click.

7

Website Integration and NAP Alignment

We ensured perfect NAP consistency between the GBP and the website, aligned the website's local business schema with the GBP data, and added click-to-call and direction prompts across the site. This created a reinforcing loop — the GBP drives website clicks, the website drives calls and quote requests, and the consistent signals strengthen both the GBP and organic rankings simultaneously.

Having directions and website clicks within 2 of each other across 6 months is not a coincidence — it is a sign of a GBP that is working across the full customer journey. Half the people who find this profile are ready to go directly to the business. The other half want to see the website first. Both groups are being captured. This is what a fully optimised GBP looks like in practice.

Direction Requests — Month by Month Growth

Directions grew consistently from April through August, peaking at approximately 75 in August before a slight pullback in September. The upward trend over 6 months confirms growing local pack visibility, not a one-month spike.

August peaking at 75 direction requests aligns with the North Carolina home improvement season — late summer is when homeowners plan garage and basement projects before autumn. The fact that September (typically a drop-off month) still held at around 58 suggests the profile has built enough local pack authority to sustain high-volume visibility even outside peak season.
